Sigh, sob...
So, In, the second of the small and weak mice we adopted, has died.
Probably he faced the same lung problem of the brother.
I was beginning to believe he could make it, 'cause he even had a couple of teeth grown while he was with us, but nothing's like a mouse mother with mouse milk and stuff like that. Not even two big human beings.
We found him with his brother in Sarabiga's car. I even risked to literally squeeze them under my foot, 'cause they were under the driver's seat, and when I put my foot in to get the car started we heard a "skiit" and we found them.
Obviously they couldn't have more than a couple of hours of life, they were naked and their eyes were still close.
No mommy to be found: two options left.
Between letting them die on a sidewalk, or giving them a chance, we decided to bring them home wishing that frikking mother could find them and raise them.
(Sarabiga lives in the country and it may happen that a mouse gives birth in a comfy warm car, if you leave it in a way it can go inside it.)
But she didn't come up. Again the alternative was killing them with a huge hammer, 'cause drowning is too sadistic even for a mouse, or try to raise them. Obviously this wasn't even a question.
I fed them with a pipe, giving them milk with sugar and honey.
But...you know what has happened.
Rest in peace, In and Out, little sweeties.

So sad. At least you gave them a chance.

Yes, it's better to have a chance, however small. And to have someone who cares, even if you're only a little mouse.
You and Sarabiga sure do have warm hearts
